Baptism

Baptism is a wonderful gift, a “precious jewel” (Large Catechism), in which God bestows His gifts of life and salvation through the water and the Word upon His adopted children. The Augsburg Confession states: “Of Baptism they teach that it is necessary to salvation, and that through Baptism is offered the grace of God, and that children are to be baptized who, being offered to God through Baptism are received into God’s grace…” So from here we see how important baptism is, to say nothing about how the Bible glowingly talks about such a gift! Baptism is commanded by Christ (Matthew 28:19-20), it creates a new Adam/Eve in us while drowning the older sinful self (Romans 6:1-14), it sanctifies us (Titus 3:4-7), and brings salvation (1 Peter 3:21). The radio spots below were recorded for our sister congregation, Bethany Lutheran Church in Aniwa, WI during the season of Advent 2020.
